Overview

The Golf and Turfgrass Management Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree at Weatherford College equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in natural and synthetic turf maintenance across golf courses, sports fields, parks, and other recreational venues.

Graduates of the program will be prepared for roles in course or field maintenance, landscape equipment repair and maintenance, and as landscaping technicians.

What sets this program apart is its strong emphasis on hands-on, practical learning. Students gain real-world experience through active training at Canyon West Golf Course and with our industry partners, ensuring they are job-ready upon graduation.

employment for golf course grounds maintenance workers from 2023 - 2033 is projected to grow
5%

This growth is fueled by the continuous demand for lawn care and landscaping services from homeowners and large institutions, such as universities and corporate campuses.

According to GolfPGAChampionship.com a similar 5% growth is projected for golf superintendents from 2020-2030 fueled by the continuous demand for well-maintained golf courses and the increasing popularity of the sport.

Transfer Option

Students completing the A.A.S. will have the opportunity to continue to the B.A.A.S. in Organizational Leadership which will further prepare them for superintendent positions.
