Overview

The Weatherford College Theatre Department is where creativity meets opportunity. Students gain hands-on experience in every aspect of theatre—from performing on stage to working behind the scenes in production and design. With exciting performance opportunities, a paid technical theatre work-study program, and leadership roles such as student directing, our department helps students turn their passion for theatre into real-world experience. Full and partial scholarships are available for qualified students.

Program

Our program offers coursework and practical training in acting, technical theatre, design, and theatre studies. We are committed to preparing students for success in the professional theatre world by developing both artistic talent and career-ready skills. Students learn how to audition, present themselves professionally, collaborate creatively, and market their talents with confidence.

In addition to learning from our dedicated faculty, students have opportunities to engage with guest artists and industry professionals through workshops and special events hosted by Weatherford College.

Productions

Weatherford College Theatre produces six to seven productions each year, including three during the summer season. Our performance schedule features a dynamic mix of genres, including musicals, classical works, contemporary theatre, and experimental productions.

Students also have opportunities to collaborate with other Fine Arts departments, working alongside talented artists in music, visual arts, and other creative disciplines. During the fall and spring semesters, students can typically participate in three to four productions.

Summer Stage

Our Summer Stage Program is one of the highlights of the year, featuring three productions, including a Shakespearean classic, a children’s play for young audiences, and a musical.

Auditions are open to both students and community members, helping us stay connected to the vibrant Weatherford community. Summer Stage also provides a unique leadership opportunity for a student director, selected by the program director, to direct the children’s production.

Technical Theatre Work-Study Program
