Overview

The Child Care Provider/Assistant certificate is a 15-hour technical certificate program that prepares individuals to work in a child care center, manage a child care center, own a child care center, teach in a preschool setting, direct an after-school program, etc. This certificate can be earned in two semesters.

Requirements

Students will be required to complete field observation hours. In order to do so, students must:

  • Pass a background check.
  • Complete a health screening as necessary and required by site.

Career Options

This program prepares students to work in a child care center, manage a child care center, and/or own a child care center. Students may also become pre-school teachers or after school program directors.

The demand for individuals to work in a child care/pre-school setting is rising due to more individuals entering the workplace. This field is estimated to grow 10% from 2018-2028 in Texas.
