WC honors four at Presidential Luncheon
Weatherford College President Tod Allen Farmer addressed the community last week at his annual President’s Luncheon, highlighting the institution’s growth, achievements, and commitment to excellence. The heart of the event, however, was the celebration of four honorees whose contributions have made a lasting impact on the college community.
Bob McKinley and Duane Durrett were honored for their combined century of service, being named Athletic Director Emeritus and Dean of Arts Emeritus, respectively.
“These educational giants have positively impacted countless lives,” Farmer said. “In appreciation of your lifetime of service to Weatherford College, it is my honor to bestow you with these honorary titles.”
Dr. Hyeyoung Song received the 2025 Presidential Service Award for her visionary leadership in establishing an international piano competition that has brought global recognition to Weatherford College.
“Seven years ago, the idea of bringing world-class pianists from over 25 countries around the world to Weatherford, Texas, sounded like a delusional pipe dream,” Farmer said. “Thanks to the unparalleled service of one truly exceptional woman, that pipe dream is now a vibrant reality.”
Rosalinda “Rosie” Villazana was awarded a Presidential Core Value Coin for her compassionate service in the college cafeteria. Known for her warm smile and nurturing spirit, Villazana has become a beloved figure among students and staff.
“Rosie not only takes care of our students, she mothers them and loves them,” said Farmer. “She also loves Weatherford College.”
The luncheon also featured updates on the college’s record-breaking enrollment, academic and athletic achievements, and the launch of a $100 million campus transformation project centered around a new student union.
Farmer closed the luncheon with a powerful message to students: “You are our highest priority. This is your opportunity to work hard and turn your dreams into reality. This is our college, and this is our time!”
