Hope

Our culture of caring at Weatherford College is built upon the Presidential Core Values
of faith, hope, and love. We genuinely care for our students, for our community, and
for one another. I have never had such optimistic hope for an even brighter future
than I do today.
Weatherford College has always been a great place, but it is now becoming even better. Our academic and workforce program offerings are more expansive than ever before. We are graduating more students with bachelor’s degrees than ever before. These high demand bachelor’s degrees cost less than half of the price of the most affordable university-based bachelor’s degrees. We are also adding or have added high demand programs like cardiovascular sonography, pediatric sonography, dental hygiene, and radiology technician programs. Additionally, our high-tech programs like cybersecurity and robotics continue to grow and expand.
In addition to academic and workforce program additions, we have dramatically expanded the number of honor societies, student organizations, and student life activities on campus. Whether listening to classical, vocal, or jazz music performances, watching theatrical productions, or enjoying visual arts displays, students now have more opportunities than ever before. However they choose to get involved, that engagement increases the odds of retention and graduation.
On the sporting side, we have more than doubled the number of athletic teams on campus. Whether actively participating as a team member, or by attending games as an excited fan, WC students are now more engaged with campus life than ever before. The various championship athletic competitions add excitement and build a sense of community among students and college stakeholders alike. Our High Steppers dance team and Coyote cheerleading squad magnify that excitement and bolster campus spirit.
Of course, our beautiful new facilities are transforming the campus and building pride in the community. The five-story student union that is currently rising out of the ground will dramatically improve the curb appeal of the college. Soon we will be able to better serve our student population and our various community groups alike.
Yet what provides me with such great hope for our shared future is not our bachelor’s degrees, athletic success, or new facilities. Our people give me great hope! Our students, faculty and staff, and community stakeholders are more dynamic than ever before. I hope for an even greater future…and I can’t wait to watch that hope become a vibrant reality!
