The Humanities, Social, and Behavioral Sciences Departments at Weatherford College allows students to earn credit towards an Associate of Arts degree. In addition, courses may fulfill requirements for certificates.

These departments offer courses in History, Government, Psychology, Sociology, English, Foreign Language, and Philosophy that help you achieve your academic and professional goals. Our emphasis is on helping you to develop strong critical thinking and written communication skills. We are committed to exposing students to a breadth of knowledge to enhance their understanding of their humanity, society, and the world in which they live. This broad liberal arts foundation and tradition provides students with a comprehensive set of skills that will enable them to serve the community and be successful in academic and professional environments.

Classes in History and Government at Weatherford College introduce students to the American story and political process, with an emphasis on the role of the individual. The disciplines of Psychology and Sociology explore the motivations and purpose of human activity. Composition and Literature courses taught at Weatherford College introduce students to the writing process as they complete projects for specific genres. Technical Writing courses prepare students to communicate in the workplace through a focus on technical and professional writing. The mission of Foreign Language courses taught at Weatherford College is to be exposed to and learn the construction of languages other than English. Philosophy courses introduce students to the investigation of fundamental philosophical issues.
