Lampkin Scholarship Recipient
Name: Winston Griffith
Course of Study: Mathematics
What activities are you involved with on campus? I am a student ambassador because I love being able to help people when I can, plus an extra scholarship isn’t a bad thing either.
What prompted you to choose your current course of study? I’ve always been good at and liked doing math problems, so I figured I might as well use that for my future.
What is the best part of attending WC? The small hometown feel. The biggest class I’ve had is 35 students (as opposed to over 300 at a larger university) and that allows for my professors to actually know me and that really helps my education.
What are your post-WC plans? I plan to transfer to TCU after my next year at Weatherford College.
What are your favorite things to do when you are not at school or studying? Helping out with my church and Bible studies or relaxing and watching Netflix.
What is your dream job? My dream job is to be a part of an organization, such a Make-A-Wish, that helps give children a better life and the love that they deserve.
Who has been your greatest mentor? My greatest mentor has been my mom. She has pushed me to be my best in everything I do, and I wouldn’t be here today without her.
What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie ever is Good Will Hunting.
What has been your favorite course, so far, at WC? Environmental Biology because we go on a lot of fun field trips and learn how to improve our environment/daily life.
How important was the proximity of WC to your home when choosing to attend? Very. I live less than 10 minutes away, so that’s a great advantage in going to Weatherford College.
How important was affordability when choosing to attend WC? Very. I’m in charge of paying for all of my college funds so Weatherford was the best choice financially.
How would you describe the quality of education you have received at WC? Weatherford has been nothing short of a great educational opportunity. I’ve learned and been taught just as much or if not more than I would at a larger university.
