How long have you been at WC? Finishing my fifth year.
What were your previous jobs? Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Instructor at UTA, and US Navy Nurse Corps officer.
What inspired you to continue your education to the doctorate level? The healthcare climate in the US is changing and nurses have the knowledge and skills to be leaders in the transformation. I want to be one of the leaders.
How do you hope to inspire nursing students at WC? Education is not over when they receive their ADN and pass the NCLEX. It is imperative to incorporate lifelong learning into their lives.
What was your favorite vacation? I love to cruise.
What event helped shape your life? My parents were first generation college graduates. I remember going to my dad’s graduation when I was 7 years old and my mother’s when I was 9 years old. College was never an option in my family, it was an expectation. My mother passed away in 2013, and I went back to school to fulfill a shared dream and make it a reality.
How would you describe the quality of education students receive at WC? WC provides a topnotch education. My son graduated from here and transferred into upper level physics courses at UT Austin. He was well prepared for the rigor of the physics department.
How would you describe the individual attention students receive at WC? Students are not a number at WC. We know their names and share in their lives at school and away.
