What prompted you to choose your current course of study? Counseling and social justice have always been of interest to me, it just took me awhile to translate that interest into a career path.
What is the best part of attending WC? The opportunities I have had to explore my career field before I even graduate, the instructors and the very solid friendships I’ve made with other students.
What are your post-WC plans? To transfer to Tarleton State for my bachelor’s/master’s in Social Work.
What are your favorite things to do when you are not at school or studying? Sleep! Really though I spend time with my kids and husband, and try to keep a balance between school and the rest of my life.
What is your dream job? I would eventually like to be in a position where I can concentrate on advocacy at a state or national level.
Who has been your greatest mentor? There are many to choose from throughout my life, but currently speaking Mr. White and Ms. Jary have played the biggest roles in pushing me to the point I am now and encouraging me to take this as far as I can.
What is your favorite band? My favorite band is Pop Evil. Going to one of there concerts is my favorite way to de-stress.
What has been your favorite course, so far, at WC? Ethics, because no matter what part of the field I end up in, the lessons from that class will always apply
How important was affordability when choosing to attend WC? I am attending WC on the Post 9/11 GI Bill, so affordability wasn’t exactly what I was concerned with. I had been told that the Veterans office on campus was one of the best, and that was the deciding factor for me.
How would you describe the campus life experience you’ve had at WC? I have enjoyed participating in all the events held on campus and being a part of FOL and the Coalition of Student Human Service Providers.
How would you describe the quality of education you have received at WC? I firmly believe that the education I have received at Weatherford College has put me on a good path to continue my education at a higher level.
