Why did you choose Weatherford College? I chose Weatherford College because it has the degree I am looking for to kick start my career. Also, it is vastly affordable which will allow me to save up for when I transfer to a four year university.
What are your career plans? My career plans are to become an elementary school teacher. For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to help others and push them to do their best. I have known I wanted to be a teacher, so when I was a high school junior I took part in a program, "Ready, Set, Teach!" In this program, we had an internship at a school and grade of our choice. My first year I chose kindergarten, and I fell more in love with the idea that I would someday become a teacher. One of my daily duties in class was to help a student learn rhyming words. One day, he told me to "help other students, because he knew how to rhyme" and it was a bittersweet moment. I did that, I taught him his rhyming words! Becoming a teacher will give me the chance to change someone's life. Eventually, I hope to have the opportunity to teach in countries less fortunate because I believe everyone deserves a chance at learning. Whether it be a student, parent or even another teacher's life then I know I have done my job.
How is your scholarship going to impact your life? A scholarship would impact my life by allowing me to take some time off from working full time and focus on bettering my grades to excel in the courses which will ultimately lead to a bachelor’s degree in teaching. This scholarship will push me closer to my dream which is to shape the minds of our future generation and make a difference in a student's life.
