Lori GougeName:  Lori Gouge

Position:  Department Chair, Physical Sciences Associate Professor of Geology

Hometown:  Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Weatherford has been my home since 1990.

How long have you been at WC: 10 years full time, 1 year adjunct.

What were your previous jobs?  Adjunct professor at TCC.

What are your favorite things to do when you are not working?  Anything outdoors – hiking, fossil hunting, fishing. I also love to make jewelry.

What was your favorite vacation?  Taking road trips and exploring the outdoors – Anyplace removed from city life and crowds. Ireland.

What event helped shape your life?  Going to the Grand Canyon as a geology student. I have loved Geology ever since.

Who is the most famous person you have personally met?  Well . . . Mean Joe Green of the Pittsburg Steelers . . . it’s a long story.

How would you describe the activity level of campus life?  Not too busy. Not too quiet. In-between.

Why is campus life important?  It gives students a sense of belonging to something.

Where does WC rank in affordability to students, in your opinion?  Probably average for a two year college.

How would you describe the quality of education students receive at WC?  I think our instructors offer wonderful, personal, quality of education.

How would you describe the individual attention students receive at WC?  I know I have had a great day when I can be personable and helpful to a struggling, inhibited student – and make their day!
