Name: Grace Hough
Course of study: Dual Credit/Undeclared
Side notes: Grace is a 15-year-old homeschooled sophomore who is also a dual credit student at WC and is active in Scouting.
How long have you been a Scout? I was a member of the faith-based American Heritage Girls for three years before I joined Venturing in August 2013.
What are some of the best skills and traits you have picked up as a Scout? Confidence, bravery and the concept of servant leadership.
Are you a scholarship recipient? No. Not unless you count the “My Parents are Paying my Tuition” Memorial College Fund.
What is the best part of attending WC? The responsibility I get from supporting myself for the future. The more college classes and equivalent credits I receive, the farther along I will be in my future studies. I like having an early start.
What are your post-WC plans? I plan to achieve a Master of Science degree in Visualization (technology focused art) at Texas A&M University before continuing on to pursue a Ph.D. in the same study.
What are your favorite things to do when you are not at school or studying? I enjoy playing piano, drawing, and writing fictional stories which I later read to my younger siblings.
What is your dream job? I want to be either an animator or storyboard artist at Pixar.
How would you describe the individual attention you have received at WC? My teachers care. I feel that they want to help their students achieve the best possible education while still leaving it up to the student to decide whether or not they make a good grade. If I have a question, I feel comfortable walking up to Dr. Vails or Prof. Cranz after class and asking them about what I need to know. I’m not saying the work is easy, but I feel enabled to do my best.
