WC Spotlight - Anne Samford

Name:  Anne Samford

Course of Study:  Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Hometown:  Aledo

What prompted you to choose your current course of study?  I chose ultrasound because I truly love helping people. Ultrasound is very rewarding because it helps save people’s lives. It is challenging and detail oriented, and it is something new and different with each patient. I also appreciate the different fields that my career has to offer, such as being a professor, working in a hospital or even becoming a travel tech.

What are your post-WC plans?  After graduation, I plan to work a couple of years and then continue my education for a bachelor’s in healthcare administration or to become a physician’s assistant

What are your favorite things to do when you are not at school or studying?  I genuinely love to be with my family, especially when we have family Sundays. My dad and I cook together and watch whatever sports game is on at the time.

What is your dream job?  I would love to become director of radiology or a physician’s assistant.

Who has been your greatest mentor?  My dad. He is the wisest person I know. In every conversation we have, he is trying to educate me, whether I’m interested or not. He is the entire reason for who I am today.

What is your favorite movie?  My favorite movie is Forrest Gump.

How important was affordability when choosing to attend WC?  Affordability was very important. Due to having an ill mother and a retired father, staying close to home was my only option. Weatherford College was completely feasible for our circumstances.

How would you describe the campus life experience you’ve had at WC?  Weatherford College really makes an effort to let their students know what is going on on campus. Also, the staff at Weatherford is more than helpful – whether it’s the advisors or the staff at the bookstore.

How has Weatherford College changed your life?  Weatherford College has directed me into my career. Without Weatherford College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, I do not know where I would be today.
