WC Spotlight - Anjelica Trevino

Anjelica TrevinoName:  Anjelica Trevino

Course of Study:  Kinesiology

Hometown:  Mineral Wells

Are you a scholarship recipient?  Student Ambassador Scholarship and Residential Assistant Scholarship.

What is the best part of attending WC?  The best part about attending Weatherford College is the amount of support I receive from the staff and friends.

What are your post-WC plans?  My plan after graduating Weatherford College is to transfer to Tarleton State University in hopes of achieving my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, then receive my master’s in athletic training.

What are your favorite things to do when you are not at school or studying?  My favorite things to do, when I'm not busy, are to go fishing or have movie night with friends.

What is your dream job?  My dream job is to work for the MLB Texas Rangers as an athletic trainer.

Who has been your greatest hero/mentor?  My greatest mentor would have to be my mother and father. My father for showing me how to be strong in all situations and showing me that no matter what happens to remember that things happen for a reason, and my mother for showing me how to be respectful and patient with things that I might not understand. But both have shown me that my education is the most important asset in life.

What is your favorite book?  "My Fight/Your Fight," by Ronda Rousey

How important was the proximity of WC to your home when choosing to attend?  The distance to my home was important because my support system is my family. I was very happy to know that Weatherford College was close enough for me to have something to fall back on.

How important was affordability when choosing to attend WC?  The affordability of Weatherford College is perfect. Being a first generation student, I was worried the cost of college would destroy my dreams before anything, but being here and being able to get a great education – that means a lot.

How would you describe the campus life experience you’ve had at WC?  The campus life I have here at Weatherford College is something I couldn’t give justice by trying to write it out. All I can say is that the people and community here have changed my life, and I personally wouldn't trade the memories or the relationship I have with the people here for anything.

How would you describe the quality of education you have received at WC?  The quality of the education here is wonderful. The professors here give not only a great perspective on the subject they are teaching but also put a piece of themselves into the class to a point that just makes you love the class and professor all together.

What is your expectation of your ability to make living based off of your WC education?  It’s not just the educational part of my Weatherford College experience that's going to make it easy but instead the things I have learned personally from each professor on how to make the harder things in life easier for me. Each professor has left an impression on me on how to handle things – from how to present myself and how to be myself overall. If I hadn't come to Weatherford College I don't believe I would have had the same experience somewhere else that could make me feel so at home.
