Acceptance of transfer students and evaluation of allowable credit will be done on an individual basis and at the discretion of the Program Director. All applicants for transfer must have a “B” or better in all nursing courses and these courses must be current (within one year of transfer). The curriculum of the transferring institution must coincide with the curriculum of the nursing program. In addition, applicants must meet all admission criteria for Weatherford College and the nursing program with regard to physical health, drug screening, criminal background history, CPR certification, etc. Transfer students must also meet the SACSCOC residency requirement of 25% of the degree must be taken at the institution granting the degree. This means that a minimum of 30 semester credit hours within the degree plan must be taken at Weatherford College.
Applicants wishing to transfer to the nursing program at Weatherford College must submit the following information at least four weeks prior to the beginning of the appropriate semester to be considered for transfer:
- Transcripts of all previously attended colleges.
- Course syllabi with course descriptions, clinical hours and evaluations, grades, etc.
for all completed nursing course work.
- A letter of recommendation from the Director of the nursing program in which previously enrolled.
All transfer students must attend the nursing program for a minimum of 50% of the program to be a graduate of the program. Prior to admission, transfer students will be required to pass a written competency test, along with a skills competency test and pay the appropriate lab fees for testing. Exit exams for semesters previous to the semester in which the student is trying to enroll must be successfully completed.
Students seeking a transfer to the nursing program will be notified by mail of the department chair’s decision within two weeks of receipt of all required information.
