Weatherford College officials have announced that WC’s annual commencement ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Weatherford ISD’s Kangaroo Stadium.
Unlike in previous years, only one ceremony will take place rather than two. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be rescheduled to June 27.
All WC employees will be required to wear masks. Masks for graduates and audience members are encouraged, but optional.
Each graduate will be issued a maximum of four tickets to ensure social distancing.
College administrators listened to input from students, employees and board members when determining the logistics of this year’s ceremony.
“Faculty, staff and students were equally disappointed we were not able to hold our annual May ceremony in the Jerry Durant Auditorium. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate with our students and their families,” said Adam Finley, executive dean of student services. “This will be a joyous celebration, and strict regulations will be in place to help provide a safe environment. We look forward to this event and will do all possible to provide a safe and memorable occasion for our graduates.”
Finley also thanked Weatherford ISD administrators for their cooperation in allowing WC to use the stadium.
Information regarding check-in procedures, the health status of attendees, seating assignments, facility use, the spacing of graduates and protocols on exiting the stadium, will be communicated to all participants. Visit www.wc.edu/commencement for more information.
