Guest Artist: Steve Story Bio

Steve Story photoAccording to USA Today’s Times Record News, Steve Story, who began playing violin when he was just 6 years old in his family’s band is “fiddle extraordinaire!” Now today, he is one of the most requested violinist and guitarist in this region.  Steve Story is an exceptionally talented instrumentalist and vocalist!  He graduated with his Master’s in Music Education from Wichita State University where he then went on to tour and/or record with many well-known artists for over 30 years:  Ricky Van Shelton, Ray Price, George Strait, Willie Nelson, . . . and has performed over 500 shows with one of the best performers and jazz guitarists, Glenn Campbell. 

Furthermore, Steve has performed at Bass Hall, Scat Jazz Lounge, Meyerson Symphony Hall, Modern Art Museum, Wichita Jazz Festival, Veil Jazz Festival, University of North Texas, Dallas Museum of Art, Denton Jazz & Arts Festival; performed on TNN’s Nashville Now, on Music City Tonight, and over 20 shows on the Grand Ole Opry.    Additionally, Steve was the featured soloist on Grammy nominated CD, The Rain in Spain, Kevin Schaelling. 

Today, as the principle of Steve Story Music, Steve directs a variety of his own groups and ensembles from Dallas/Ft. Worth up to Kansas City with his jazz combo, string quartet and Texas Western swing band.  When he is not performing, Steve is a music educator at Tarrant County College in Ft. Worth where he is teaching guitar and violin as well as traveling to universities and colleges where he teaches clinics and performs in student/faculty concerts.
