The Humanities Department offers courses that are part of the core education requirements for completion of two-year degrees, four-year degrees, and certificate programs. Specifically, ENGL 1301 is a fundamental course required by most degree and certificate plans. ENGL 1301 and ENGL 2311 are core courses for many programs. Literature courses meet the Language and Literature component of degree plans; they are fundamental for potential English majors and most Liberal Arts degree plans. Philosophy and Foreign Language courses are optional components of many degree plans, with SPAN 1411 being a general requirement of most two-year and four-year degree plans. All Humanities courses prepare students for projects they will need to complete in university and professional environments by emphasizing writing, research, and/or critical thinking skills.
