Respiratory Care Program Mission

Program Mission

In accordance with the mission of Weatherford College, the Respiratory Care Program is committed to providing quality learning opportunities that serve the needs of our students and the citizens of our service area. In addition, the Respiratory Care Program will prepare graduates to function as competent respiratory care practitioners, serving society through their professional roles.

Program Goal

To prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs).

The course of study is comprised of 66 semester credit hours and is designed to prepare individuals for an allied health specialty that cares for patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.

Accreditation Status

The Weatherford College Respiratory Care Program (CoARC program #200458) awards an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care on the Weatherford College campus in Weatherford, Texas and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (

Texas License

In order to work as a respiratory therapist in the state of Texas (after completion of the program), all Respiratory Care Practitioners are required to obtain a permit through the Texas Medical Board. If the applicant has a felony or misdemeanor conviction, he/she may not be eligible for a permit.
