MISSION STATEMENT: Coyote Jazz Fest is a non-competitive, educational event, designed to provide learning opportunities for middle and high school students and band directors, to further their knowledge about, understanding of, and musicianship skills in, the theory, application and practice of proven pedagogical methodologies in and of the Jazz idiom, through:
- Performances by each jazz ensemble
- Ensemble Clinics following each performance
- Master Classes by instrument and/or section
- Improvisation / Jazz Theory Workshop for all participants
- Sight Reading Ensemble for all participants

Performance / Ensemble Clinic Format: Ensembles will have a maximum of 50 minutes for setup, performance and clinic, including 5 minutes to strike and exit the stage. It is recommended therefore that repertoire be limited to three selections, in order to allow clinicians ample time to complete their written comments. Ensemble clinics follow each performance on stage.
Master Classes: Designed for students by instruments and/or sections, i.e. saxophones, trumpet, low brass, piano, guitar, bass and drum set. Students are encouraged to be prepared to play their instruments as called upon, by way of demonstration and/or instructional example.
The Improvisation / Jazz Theory Workshop and Sight Reading Ensemble Clinics: Intended for all participants. Students and directors are encouraged to bring their instruments and sit in the “hands on” workshop format, as well as by way of demonstration and/or instructional example.

Individual Awards: Certificates for outstanding student performances will be awarded, as determined by clinicians.
Scholarships: Performing scholarships up to and including, full tuition and fees, books, meals, and/or dormitory costs, may be available, as recommended by clinicians, for deserving students to enroll in Weatherford College, and participate in the WC Jazz Band beginning in the fall semester of 2018.
Registration fees: $275 per large ensemble of 10-20 participants; $175 per small ensemble of fewer than 9 participants; and $25.00 per individual and/or >20 participants; payable to Weatherford College on or before the day of the event.
