Anna Eastman, a Weatherford College student in the Human Service Provider / Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate Program, recently received the Aaron Ruben Scholarship from the Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals.

Eastman, who lives in Mineral Wells, was honored at the TAAP Freedom Conference awards luncheon on April 4 at the American Airlines Training Center. She is the first Weatherford College student to receive the prestigious Aaron Ruben Award. Eastman was also honored on April 16 at the Weatherford College Honors Convocation as the Outstanding Student in the Substance Abuse Counseling Program.

The Fort Worth Chapter of TAAP founded the Aaron Ruben Scholarship in 1998 after Ruben’s passing to serve as a memorial tribute for his active involvement in education, as an instructor in the field and as an active member and Chair of the Education Committee of the Fort Worth Chapter. Ruben was a World War II veteran and an instructor at Tarrant County College in the Substance Abuse Program.
