Weatherford College is finishing up the spring semester with a slew of entertaining options in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.
This Thursday, retiring theatre instructor Nancy McVean and her drama students offer an evening of relief, distraction and fun for those preparing for finals. Join them at 7 p.m. for two short original plays written, directed and produced by WC students.
“They have been busy and now would like to present their own creation to all of you,” McVean said. “We need an audience and you need a break, so let’s get together and make some memories.”
Come back on Friday for the WC Jazz Band and Combo spring concert “It Don’t Mean a Thing” starting at 7:30 p.m. The program for the evening includes “Cool Hicks, Hot Licks” by WC’s Ric Flauding, featuring WC artist in residence Hyeyoung Song on piano as well an arrangement of “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” by Flauding and Duke Ellington’s “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing).”
Saturday, Rick Rainey’s opera students present “Mini Die Fledermaus” and other operatic scenes at their spring opera workshop starting at 7:30 p.m.
