WC Touring Theatre Troupe presents "King of the Ice Cream Mountain"

King of the Ice Cream Mountain.

The Weatherford College Touring Theatre Troupe is preparing King of the Ice Cream Mountain for both the college stage and for performances at local elementary schools.

Written by Jerrold Mundis and Robert Leonard, King of the Ice Cream Mountain is an exciting combat between wicked Zeno (who tries to get control of all the ice cream in the world), Princess Happy and a delightful penguin named Muffles (who is turned into a wild dragon).

Performances in the Alkek Fine Arts Center are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, as well as 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18. Doors open a half hour prior to show time, and admission is free.

The cast and crew for King of the Ice Cream Mountain include: Joshua Davis as King Bumpygruff, Niquel Barnett as Princess Happy, Tyler Livingston as Muffles, Jewelia Emery as Zeno, Kensi Hearrell and Cole Lucas as understudies, and Elizabeth Ramsey as stage manager.

Joe Nicikowski, WC Fine Arts Technical Director, created the WC Touring Theatre Troupe eight years ago to increase awareness of theatre among young students.

“I wanted to provide a free and easy means for grade schools to expose their students to a part of culture they may not get to see easily,” he said. “I look forward to starting our ninth year and hope to continue this program well into the future.”
