Go on the ultimate quest with the cast of “Man of La Mancha” at Weatherford College Nov. 17-20.
The annual musical production is held in the Alkek Fine Arts Center and is free to the public. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17-19 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 20. Doors open a half hour prior to each show.
“The ‘Man of La Mancha’ is not a fantasy, but a story of beauty, purity and magic,” said Director Nancy McVean. “Don Quixote believed in the goodness and beauty of his world and he acted on it. To the very end, he never lost his quest – to dream, to fight, to love, to try, to reach with his last ounce of courage, the unreachable stars. He saw beauty and purity in some of the ugliest of the world.
“The challenge of this musical far exceeds memorizing lines, learning songs, developing characters; it’s about understanding a quest. Believing in something and being willing to die for that belief is a passion unknown to most people. America was built on that premise, and thus this story will never be outdated.”
Cast of the musical includes Joshua Davis, Governor; J.D. Choate, Cervantes/Quixote; Blake Cobb, Barber; Lisa Cockerell, Maria; Lana Robinson; Housekeeper; Zachery Crawford, The Duke; Kalyn Davis-Daniels, Fermina; Patti Sue Noe, Morrish Girl/Antonia; Samuel Franklin, Innkeeper/Captain; Tyler Livingston, Padre; Cole Lucas, Sancho; Ashlee McDonald, Aldonza/Dulcinea; Zachary Pricer, Dr. Carrasco; and Mark Rach, William Franklin, Tyler West-Sumrall and Tyler Cumbus as Muleteers.
