It will probably be warm outside this June, but an enthusiastic group of teenagers inside Weatherford College’s Alkek Fine Arts Center will be frozen.
That’s OK, the cold never bothered them anyway.
WC has announced its first Advanced Teen Musical Theatre Camp, which will culminate with four performances of Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” on the Alkek stage.
With music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and book by Jennifer Lee, “Frozen Jr.” is based on the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee.
The camp is open to students under the age of 18 who have completed grades 6-12 in the 2018-19 academic year. Camp dates are June 3-7 and June 10-14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at the Alkek Fine Arts Center on WC’s Weatherford campus. Some additional evening rehearsals may be called and there will be a full dress rehearsal June 13 at 6:30 p.m.
Performances will be June 14 at 7 p.m., June 15 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and June 16 at 3 p.m.
The production team will include directors Elizabeth Baker and Erin Brownlee, choreography by Candy Mummert, costuming by Michelle Hayes and Hayley Vantine as stage manager.
Auditions will be Monday, May 6, from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Callbacks will be Tuesday, May 7, at 4:30 p.m. Script pick-up and costume measuring will take place Wednesday, May 8, at 4:30 p.m.
Camp fees for performing students are $200 plus a $50 costume fee. Payments will be made by check only. The costume fee is due at auditions with the remainder due during script pickup and costume measuring on May 8. If students are not cast, they will receive a refund on their costume fee. Tech track (non-performing campers) will not pay a costume fee.
Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI (www.MTIShows.com).
