The public is invited to the Weatherford College Student Art Reception at 6 p.m. Monday, April 11, in Texas Hall of the Alkek Fine Arts Center.
Works include a wide range of subject matter, techniques and a variety of media including ebony, charcoal, scratchboard, acrylic, oil, watercolor, colored pencil, clay, copper and mixed media. Art work will be offered for exhibition and for sale.
Art students at WC range from those who intend to pursue art as a career to those who are taking art for cultural enrichment, said Myrlan Coleman, Director of Visual Arts.
“This is a good opportunity to view the works of budding artists,” she said. “Each student seems to work in their own individual style and technique and yet they all appear to be excited about learning to try new things.”
The art show opened April 4 and runs through April 26. Coleman encouraged community members to attend this one-hour free event in order for the students to have a chance to meet the public.
“This is one of the best groups of students we have had,” Coleman said. “I look for great things for their futures.”
