Weatherford College has recorded another record enrollment for a spring semester with a headcount of 5,911 students, up 0.68% from Spring 2018.
The largest increase in the student population continues to come from dual credit students taking courses in their respective high schools with an 8.86 percent increase from 1,760 students last spring semester to 1,916 for the current semester.
Due to the smaller course load undertaken by these students, the number of contact hours dipped by 2.46 percent this semester compared with last year. Contact hours are one component of calculating state funding for the college.
“We are very pleased with the success of our strategic growth enrollment management strategies,” said Dr. Tod Allen Farmer, Weatherford College president. “We are now growing in a controlled manner with student success and fidelity to the taxpayers as our highest priorities.”
