The Texas Workforce Commission has awarded a $613,936 Skills Development Fund grant to Weatherford College to provide 292 current PECOFacet employees and 61 new hires with job skills training during the next 18 months.
Training will be held both at the worksite and Weatherford College campus.
PECOFacet is headquartered in Mineral Wells and is a globally recognized manufacturer and seller of filtration and separation products to the natural gas, refining, petrochemical, chemical, power generation, aviation, marine, environmental and industrial markets.
“This grant partnership is a great example of a Texas business, a community college and the state working together to customize training to fit business needs,” said Kay Young, WC Dean of Workforce and Economic Development.
The grant will benefit WC through the development of new courses applicable to manufacturing construction. It will provide additional computer aided drafting and design applications including basic, mechanical and 3D solid modeling as well as courses related to manufacturing processes, technology and operations, welding, electrical and project management skills.
“These career clusters are the focus of the Preparing Employees for Continuing Opportunities (PECO) Grant Project,” Young said.
Training began in July and upon successful completion of a class or a series of classes, employees will receive Weatherford College certificates of completion.
“We are grateful to receive these training funds from the State of Texas and appreciate their continued support of Weatherford College’s ability to train a large number of employees,” said Janetta Kruse, WC Director of Workforce and Continuing Education, who led the grant development team.
“The Texas Workforce Commission works strategically with businesses and educational institutions to train or retrain workers, expand work opportunities and keep high-quality jobs in the state,” Kruse said. “This workforce development grant will help take PECOFacet to the next level by ensuring professional growth for employees and continued quality in manufacturing.”
