Weatherford College voice instructor Rick Rainey presents a special evening of Strings and Songs this Friday, Nov. 9, in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.
Doors open at 7 p.m., the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.
The concert features Rainey singing tenor, Jessica Green singing mezzo-soprano along with harpist Sydney Howell and pianist Dr. Hyeyoung Song.
The program features a duet with Rainey and Green based on the biblical story “Abraham and Issac.”
Rainey is a voice instructor and opera workshop director at WC. He is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University and currently sings for the Dallas Opera Chorus, is a soloist at Second Church of Christian Science in Fort Worth and has performed many roles with the Fort Worth Opera Company.
Green has enjoyed singing in the North Texas area for the past 20 years with programs such as the Dallas Opera and the Dallas Opera Chorus. Her operatic roles have included Rosina in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” Prince Orlovsky in “Strauss’ Die Fledermaus,” Cherubino in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” and Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”
Howell has made a career of performing and teaching harp for more than 40 years including performing with the Fort Worth Symphony and teaching at Texas Christian University. She has also played at High Tea in the Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth for a number of years.
Song has performed from New York to Korea including Carnegie Hall and the American Cathedral in Paris. For the past nine years, she has enthusiastically passed on her knowledge to WC piano students as the college’s artist-in-residence.
