WC presents Classical Guitar Concert, Joint Choir Concert

Will Douglas

Classical guitar concert to feature Baroque compositions

Weatherford College will host a classical guitar concert by instructor Will Douglas at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.

This concert is free to the public, and doors open a half hour prior to the concert.

Douglas will perform the Texas premiere of four Baroque lute Phantasias (fantasies) by David Kellner. These pieces were transcribed for guitar in the 1980s in Europe, but are rarely performed in the United States.

Songs of Reconciliation
Choirs team up for Shared Humanity concert

Members of the Weatherford College Choir, the Parker County Community Choir and South Hills Christian Church Chancel Choir are teaming up to perform Shared Humanity – Songs of Reconciliation.

This concert will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, in the Alkek Fine Arts Center and again at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at South Hills Christian Church in Fort Worth. Admission to both concerts is free.

This concert focuses on songs about community and togetherness.

“In a culture that often rewards division we will share songs and stories that celebrate the powers that bind us as one human family,” WC choir director Rob Laney said.
