The Weatherford College Foundation has announced that “Weatherford College: The First 150 Years,” a pictorial history book written by Jon Vandagriff, is now on sale to the public in celebration of the college’s sesquicentennial.
The 128-page book contains more than 270 photos and covers the entire history of the institution from the Masonic cornerstone-laying ceremony on July 5, 1869, to the hiring of Dr. Tod Allen Farmer, WC’s 20th president, in 2018.
Vandagriff, a 1955 WC graduate, spent nearly two years writing the book. WC’s Institutional Advancement Office assisted Vandagriff with photos and editing along with professional editors and graphic artists from Donning Company Publishers.
“We are very appreciative of Jon for all of his painstaking, detailed work, along with everyone involved in the process,” said Brent Baker, WC vice president of institutional advancement. “This is a wonderful keepsake for anyone interested in local history, and especially for anyone who loves Weatherford College. We’ve had a great response so far.”
The book is available for $39.95 in the Institutional Advancement Office at WC’s Weatherford campus, at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce, or online at www.WC150.com.
