Several holiday-themed events are set to take place at Weatherford College this next week including the annual choir concert featuring selections from Handel’s “Messiah” along with an opera performance of “Amahl and the Night Visitors” and a community holiday party.
The WC and Parker County Community Choir will perform selections from Handel’s “Messiah,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.
Led by choir director Rob Laney, community members from across the WC service area have dedicated their time to rehearse and perform this concert for the past 19 years.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, the public is invited to a community holiday party starting at 3:15 p.m. in Texas Hall of the Alkek. This is a family friendly event, and Santa is expected to make an appearance.
Then at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, join the WC Fine Arts Department for an operatic production of “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” WC voice instructor Rick Rainey has modernized this classic story of the magi for the entire family to enjoy.
The production will include performances on two of the college’s new Steinway pianos, ballet and appearances by many WC students and a few staff members.
All of these events are free to attend. Find more information on upcoming fine arts events at WC by joining the Weatherford College Fine Arts group on Facebook.
