Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas named Weatherford College their Educational Partner of the Year on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at their 22nd Annual Awards of Excellence in Grand Prairie.
Kay Schroeder, Workforce Development Specialist V, nominated WC for the award. In her nomination she highlighted WC’s status as an Eligible Training Provider (ETP) for Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas (WSNCT).
WC currently offers 35 training opportunities in information technology, business, construction and health for occupations listed on the Target Occupations List for WSNCT.
“Weatherford College has remained a continuous partner seeking information and guidance on how to provide the new required data for their programs to remain on the Statewide ETP list,” Schroeder wrote in her nomination. “With their cooperation in meeting these new requirements they remain an avenue for WSNCT clients to address barriers and upgrade skills to order to be a productive member of the North Central Texas economy.”
Dr. Tod Allen Farmer, WC president, attended the awards ceremony along with members of WC’s Workforce Education Department to receive the award.
“Thank you so much for this honor,” Farmer said. “Weatherford College is just getting started. We are right around the corner from some collaboratives that are going to place the unemployed in training and get them back into wage earning, tax paying jobs at unprecedented levels.”
