Make your mark on history by participating the Weatherford College fight song contest. The deadline to enter is Friday, Dec. 7.
While WC has an alma mater, “Old Black and Gold,” the college does not have a fight song. As part of the college’s sesquicentennial year, a contest is in progress to select an upbeat song.
A committee will select the top three or four entries which will then be submitted to the student body for their input. The final decision will be made by the President’s Cabinet. A winner will be announced during the Spring 2019 semester.
If a current WC student writes the winning song, they will win a $500 scholarship from the WC Foundation.
Fight song submissions should be 20 to 45 seconds in length; include some or all of the following words: Coyote or Coyotes (pronounced kī-ōtes), Black, Gold, WC, Weatherford College, Pride, Fight, Victory, Faculty, Staff or Students. The song should be energetic and catchy, high spirited, respectful and should deliver a positive and encouraging message.
Songs may be submitted via Word document or MPS. No copyrighted music or lyrics can be used.
