Fall is a great time to play golf in Texas, so local golfers are looking forward to the beautiful weather and scenery at the 14th annual Weatherford College Foundation Golf Tournament scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16, at Canyon West.
Known for great raffle items and door prizes, the tournament features a relatively inexpensive fee of $85 per player or $325 per foursome. Each golfer will receive lunch from Chicken Express, a grilled hamburger dinner from the WC Police Department, a WC golf hat, a WC drawstring bag and other goodies.
Golfers will have the unique opportunity to “double their donation” as every dollar raised at the tournament will be matched by the U.S. Department of Education Title III matching gift program. The five-year, Title III endowment program has brought in more than $500,000 to support WC scholarships and other educational support over the past four years.
The tournament will feature trophies for the top three teams in the scramble, with multiple awards for “longest drive” and “closest-to-the-pin.”
Several businesses have signed on as event sponsors, including Platinum Level sponsors Johnson Controls, Inc. and Texas Book Company. Gold Level sponsors include Chicken Express, First Financial Bank, Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford, HUB International Insurance Services, the Jerry Durant Auto Group, Lone Star Coaches, Plains Capital Bank and Steele & Freeman.
