WC Foundation Golf Tournament brings in more than $50,000.

Golf lovers and supporters of Weatherford College enjoyed a gorgeous day at Canyon West Thursday at the 14th annual WC Foundation Golf Tournament.

More than $25,000 was raised through the fundraiser. Coupled with the matching program from a federal Title III grant, this event will bring in more than $50,000 to support WC and its students.

“It was a great day of golf, and it was for a very good cause,” said Brent Baker, Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “Thanks to all of the sponsors, volunteers and players for making this one of the best golf tournaments we’ve ever hosted.”

The team of Wade Julian, Justin Hitchcock, Lindsay McBride and Mike McBride won the tournament with a score of 54, which is 18-under par. A total of 30 teams participated in the tournament.

Additionally, many participants left with door prizes and raffle items including three shotguns, a 40-inch HDTV, a Dell tablet, Beats headphones and more.

Platinum tournament sponsors included Fisher & Phillips Attorneys at Law, Johnson Controls, Inc. and Texas Book Company. Gold Level sponsors include Chicken Express, First Financial Bank, Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford, HUB International Insurance Services, the Jerry Durant Auto Group, Lone Star Coaches, Plains Capital Bank and Steele & Freeman. Silver Level sponsors were Edward Jones – Brent A. Gough, Documation, First Financial Trust, Progressive Waste Solutions, Prosperity Bank, Snow Garrett Williams, the Weatherford Democrat and Weatherford Regional Medical Center. Bronze Level sponsors included Fort Worth Community Credit Union, Lone Star Ag Credit and Rep. Phil King.

Founded in 1978, the Weatherford College Foundation exists to support WC and its students through scholarships and other projects.
