Don’t miss this weekend’s production of The House of Blue Leaves at Weatherford College.
The production takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Doors open a half hour prior to show time, and admission is free.
Set in Sunnyside, Queens in 1965, on the day Pope Paul VI visited New York City, the black comedy features nuns, a political bombing, a GI headed for Vietnam, a zookeeper who dreams of making it big in Hollywood as a songwriter, and his wife Bananas, a schizophrenic destined for the institution that provides the play's title.
Cast for the show are: Setho O’Bannon as Artie Shaughnessy, John Henry Long as Ronnie Shaughnessy, Jewelia Sky Emery as Bananas Shaughnessy, Elizabeth Ramsey as Bunny Flingus, Jeanelle Godson as Corrinna Stroller, Joshua Davis as Billy Einhorn, Salone Sasser and Randi Kelleher as the nuns, Benjamin Brinkman as a policeman and Foster Schultz as the white coat man.
Crew for the show include director Nancy McVean, technical director and set designer Joe Nicikowski, stage manager Salone Sasser, costumer Marcus Lopez, sound and light board operator Joe Nicikowski and construction crew Tyler Joshua West-Sumrall and cast.
