Weatherford College and the Parker County Community Choir present their annual concert, Selections from Handel’s “Messiah,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.
Choir director Rob Laney said a significant number of singers from past years have returned for this year’s performance providing him the opportunity to perfect their technique and rebuild the choir’s tone from the ground up.
“We’re learning the interdisciplinary approach to singing across sections,” he said. “That is to say, while one individual sings a note you are listening closely to the rest of your section, and also to the notes of the other parts. This weaving together of all our ears and voices results in a more unified, balanced, blended choral tone that is perfectly in tune with itself.
“The choir’s sound this year is astonishingly supple and profound. A perfect way to honor the holiday season’s and the oratorio’s message of redemption and grace.”
