WC Fall musical, Young Frankenstein, promises a Monstrous Good Time!

WC fall musical, Young Frankenstein.

It’s just about time for the theatre stage in the Alkek Fine Arts Center to come alive for the Weatherford College fall musical, Young Frankenstein.

Based on the Oscar-nominated, smash-hit 1974 film, Young Frankenstein is a wickedly inspired re-imaging of the Mary Shelley classic. This show, from the comic genius mind of Mel Brooks, is anything but serious.

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Or is it “Fronkensteen?”), professor of Anatomy at New York’s most famous institute of higher learning, the Johns, Miriam and Anthony Hopkins School of Medicine, attempts to complete his grandfather’s work to bring a corpse back to life with the help of several hilarious, bizarre characters he encounters on his journey to Transylvania.

“The cast of Young Frankenstein is enormously talented and promises to create an evening of sheer entertainment and a truly fun night at the theatre,” Director Nancy McVean said. “But be careful what you wish for – it could happen, and it does in Young Frankenstein the musical.”

The Weatherford College cast includes Seth O’Bannon as Frederick Frankenstein, Hank Minor as The Monster, Cole Lucas as Igor, Alex Compton as Inga, Jeanelle Godson as Elizabeth Benning, Elizabeth Ramsey as Frau Blucher, Arik Yates as Kemp, Joshua Davis as The Hermit and Tony Thorn as Ziggy.

The chorus is made up of Everett Goar, Tyler Livingston, Allen Dean, Jewelia Emery, Angela Herndon and Patti Sue Noe.

Young Frankenstein takes the stage Oct. 30 through Nov. 2 in the Alkek Fine Arts Center. Show times are 7:30 p.m. with the exception of Sunday, Nov. 2, when the show begins at 2 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes before show time and admission is free. Please note, the production of Young Frankenstein is rated PG13.
