High school seniors, their parents and all others interested are invited to a set of college and financial aid information sessions at the Weatherford College Education Center at Granbury, 210 N. Jones St., at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, and Tuesday, April 22.
The February information session will cover topics including:
- How to become a student,
- How to receive financial aid,
- What courses to take, and
- How to gain skills for the workplace.
In April, students and their parents will complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) in a financial aid workshop.
“Early spring is the best time to explore college and financial aid options for the next school year,” said Dr. David Russell, associate dean of the Granbury campus.
The April workshop will be especially helpful for students and parents, Russell said. Those who have filed their 2013 taxes can retrieve information directly from the IRS into the FAFSA.
“Even if parents have not filed their taxes, we can still help them complete part of the application,” he said. “The information can be saved and finished later when taxes have been filed.”
WC advisors, financial aid representatives and a veteran’s advisor will also be available to assist.
