The Weatherford College Workforce and Continuing Education Department was recently approved as an In-Facility State Testing site for the Certified Nurse Aide Program at the Education Center at Granbury.
In September 2013, the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services made many changes to the state regulated Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program or NATCEP. One of the changes was the location of the state Nurse Aide exam, resulting in the state implementing Regional and In-Facility testing sites. In order to be approved as an In-Facility testing site, the facility must be an approved Nurse Aide Training Provider and have a lab approved by the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Services (NACES).
The Weatherford College Workforce and Continuing Education Nurse Aide Program met both of the requirements and was subsequently approved as an In-Facility Testing site in March. In-Facility testing sites only test students who have completed their Nurse Aide training program.
Four Nurse Aide classes have tested at the new In-Facility site with all passing the skills exam and 99 percent passing the written. This resulted in 28 new certified Nurse Aides placed on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry.
“I am extremely pleased with our results,” said Workforce/CE Coordinator Tracy Butler. “This shows how thoroughly trained our students are by our instructors.”
Fall CNA classes will be held at both the Weatherford Campus and at the Education Center in Granbury. Fall CNA registration begins 10:00 a.m., Aug. 6, in the Academic Building on the Weatherford Campus or at the Education Center in Granbury.
