WC to celebrate Veterans Day with ceremony Nov. 8

Veterans Day honored

Weatherford College will celebrate Veterans Day with a ceremony Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Ed Kramer Veterans Flag Plaza, located outside the Academic Building on the Weatherford campus. The event will begin at 10:45 a.m.

The college generally moves their celebration of Veterans Day to a day when students are on campus when the holiday falls on a weekend.

This year’s guest speaker is United States Marine Corp Cpl. Frank Divins, a 2017 graduate of the Weatherford College registered nurse program.

Musical guests include Sonny and Jolie Burgess, Doug Jefferson, and Hunter Burt on bagpipes.

John Park and his canine soldier Max will also make an appearance. Park and Max were the featured program at the 2015 Veterans Day ceremony.

As in the past, WC veterans will take part in raising the military flags and the American flag as well as the retiring of the American flag that has flown over campus for the past year. Parker County Gold Star Families will also be honored with a remembrance of those who paid the ultimate price for their country.
