WC announces auditions for summer theater productions

The Alkek Fine Arts Center theater at Weatherford College will be busy this summer with three productions lined up, and auditions are open to the community.

WC theater instructor James Brownlee is preparing for “The Princess and The Pea” and William Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labours Lost.”

Auditions for Once Upon a Time Theatre’s “The Princess and The Pea” and Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labours” will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18. No headshot, resume or prepared monologue is required as auditions will consist of cold readings from the script for both shows.

Interested thespians must be age 13 or older to audition for “The Princess and The Pea” and 16 or older for “Love’s Labours.”

Rehearsals for “Love’s Labours” begin Monday, July 8, and run Monday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. with show dates on August 7-10 at 7:30 p.m.

Rehearsals for “The Princess and The Pea” are to be announced, with show dates running July 27-28, Aug. 3-4 and Aug. 10-11 and show times at 10 a.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.

Auditions for WC’s first-ever advanced teen musical theater camp featuring “Frozen Jr.” take place on Monday, May 6, and there are still a few auditions times available. To sign up and learn more about the musical theater camp email wcteentheatercamp@gmail.com. The total cost of the camp is $250.
