Weatherford College’s Corporate College program was recently recognized with a 2019 Exemplary Program Award from the National Council of Continuing Education and Training.

WC is one of only 17 colleges and universities in the country to receive this award in its inaugural year. To be considered for the award, a program must either provide new staff development capabilities, introduce new curriculum for an evolving workforce or provide a new source of revenue for the institution.

WC’s Corporate College was designed to provide training to businesses of all sizes in the college’s five-county service area. With grants available through a partnership with Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas, WC’s Corporate College can provide training at little or no cost to employers.

“Texas is at an all-time low for unemployment, so businesses are struggling to fill positions,” said Jessica McKee, director of Workforce Education. “With Corporate College we are able to train current employees so they stay and promote at their current companies. Also, we teach a wide array of skills to employees at various levels of their career, which is a great way to entice and retain employees.

“Weatherford College is honored to receive this recognition. Our service area continues to grow, and we are excited to serve our traditional students as well as grow our business partners. This honor confirms the efforts made to ensure that Weatherford College continues to serve our area for the next 150 years.”

NCCET is the national organization for leaders in workforce, community and economic development, providing member institutions with resources to stay up-to-date with continuing education and training programs.
