Joel Watson announced his resignation from the Weatherford College Board of Trustees Thursday afternoon. The resignation is effective immediately.
Watson, a Weatherford native and a WC alumnus, was elected to the board in 2009 and had served as the board’s vice chair since that time. He was re-elected to an additional six-year board term in 2015.
“I regret Joel’s decision to leave the board,” said Mac Smith, newly-elected board chair. “He has served Weatherford College and the board as vice chairman for eight years. I appreciate his presence and contributions during his tenure, and he should be commended for his service to his alma mater.”
The board will discuss appointing a replacement for Watson at a later date.
“Parker County taxpayers have lost another great and honest custodian of their hard-earned tax dollars,” said board member Elaine Carter. “Joel has worked hard for WC and will be missed on the board.”
