Prepare your taste buds, because the 6th annual Taste of Parker County is only a few short weeks away, and this year’s event has moved to a larger location to accommodate even more great eats and treats.

Benefiting the Weatherford College Foundation, the 2014 Taste of Parker County will take place Thursday, May 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Canyon West Golf Club.

“We’re excited about going to Canyon West for several reasons,” said Brent Baker, WC Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “More room for our patrons and vendors, and that spectacular view of the golf course will add a lot to the event.”

Patrons can enjoy sample-sized portions from all of the 20 participating vendors, which will be located in both the covered pavilion as well as the upstairs clubhouse. They will also have the opportunity to cast their vote for several coveted awards, including “Best Entrée,” “Best Dessert,” “Best Beverage,” “Most Unique” and several other categories. Vendors committed so far are: 2 Outlaws BBQ, Ben E. Keith Beverages, Big John’s Burgers and Beer, Jim Boo-Ray’s of New Orleans, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chicken Express, City Kitchen Catering, Copper Creek, Fish Creek, Golden Moon, The Pizza Place, Rahr & Sons Brewery, Rosa’s Café, Schlotzsky’s, Short Chef Creations, Starbucks, The Wild Mushroom Steak House and Lounge, Windy Hill Farm Bakery, Yesterdays Sandwich Shop and Yogurt Story. Organizers said several other potential vendors have also expressed interest.

“I’ve had many people tell me this is one of their favorite events of the year.” Baker said. “Just walk around, eat your favorite foods, try something new and talk to your friends. It’s always a blast.”

Every dollar raised at this year’s event will be matched by the U.S. Department of Education as part of the college’s Title III grant, which will build a new scholarship endowment for WC students.

Sponsors for the event include the Southwest Auto Group, Plains Capital Bank and First National Bank of Weatherford.

Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at www.tasteofparkercounty.com or at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.
