Violinist and guitarist Steve Story is this year’s guest artist at the annual Weatherford College Jazz Fest concert set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22 in the Alkek Fine Arts Center.

Story began playing violin at age 6 in his family’s band and is now one of the most requested violinists and guitarists in the region.

He graduated with a master’s degree in Music Education from Wichita State University and has toured and recorded with many well-known artists including Ricky Van Shelton, Ray Price, George Strait and Willie Nelson and performed more than 500 shows with Glen Campbell. He was the featured soloist on the Grammy nominated CD “The Rain in Spain” by Kevin Schaelling.

Today, as the principal of Steve Story Music, he directs a variety of his own groups and ensembles from Dallas/Fort Worth up to Kansas City with his jazz combo, string quartet and Texas western swing bans. When he’s not performing, Story teaches at area colleges and universities.

The concert is the culmination of a day-long festival where area high schools converge on the Weatherford College campus to attend master classes and workshops.

Admission to the WC Jazz Band and Combo concert is free and doors open a half hour prior to the concert.
