Spring enrollment sets another record at WC logo

Keeping in line with the fall semester’s record enrollment of more than 6,300 students, the spring numbers at Weatherford College also set a new record.

As of count day, the college-wide student headcount is 5,897. This represents a 5.5 percent year-to-year increase in headcount and a 5.1 percent increase in contact hours – the number of credit hours a student is enrolled.

As with the Fall semester increase, the two areas that saw the greatest increases include dual credit and online instruction. Dual credit student population increased 23.4 percent compared to last spring, and 1,768 students are currently classified as early admissions. Online student population increased 12.3 percent year-to-year with 2,189 students currently taking online courses.

Students classified as “developmental” or needing remedial education decreased 7 percent, which means more students are classified as college ready as defined by the state, and students pursuing academic or transfer intended courses increased 7 percent compared to last spring.

Individual campuses saw decreases and increases from last spring:

  • Weatherford Campus: student headcount decreased 2.2 pecent, total student population 2,697
  • Wise County Campus: student headcount increased 3.8 percent, total student population 554
  • Mineral Wells Education Center: student headcount decreased 7.8 percent, total student population 94
  • Granbury Education Center: Student headcount increased 3.7 percent, total student population 281
