Osina reaches 400 wins, Lady Coyotes lose to No. 15 Collin

The Weatherford College men’s basketball team beat Collin College 98-90 at the Betty Jo Crumm Graber Athletic Center Wednesday night, the 400th career victory for head coach Mark Osina.

Osina’s teams are 400-260 in his 18 years as head coach. He is a four-time conference Coach of the Year Award winner and was a finalist for National Coach of the Year in 1999.

 

Ole Miss signee Zach Naylor scored 23 points for the Coyotes Wednesday night. Chance Edwards added 16 and Ke’lyn Adams scored 15. Jackson Nobles scored 23 for Collin.

 

The Coyotes are 13-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

 

The WC women’s team was defeated by Collin, the No. 15 team in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings, 75-62.

 

Tahnia McDaniel led the Lady Coyotes (9-6, 1-1) with 20 points. Jordynn Hernandez led Collin (17-1, 2-0) with 21 points.

 

Weatherford women’s head coach and athletic director Bob McKinley can reach the 900-win plateau when WC travels to Hillsboro to face Hill College Saturday afternoon.
