The second annual Lone Star Guitar Festival comes to Weatherford College June 2-5 and features seven professional concerts in addition to a slew of guitar classes as well as a competition.

Among the festival’s world-wide talent is Swedish guitarist and composer Johannes Möller and Italian guitar duo Giampaolo Bandini and Cesare Chiacchiaretta.

This year’s festival is about showing the world what Weatherford and Weatherford College is all about,” WC guitar instructor Will Douglas said.

Last year’s festival brought in guitar professors from the University of Texas, Texas A&M and the University of North Texas. This year, Douglas reached world-wide for instructors and performers including professors of guitar from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music and the top guitar teacher in all of Italy.

“In addition, Emma Rush of the Hamilton Conservatory in Ontario, Canada, will be the director of our ‘Femme Fretale’ special event, which features the top female performers from Cuba, Canada and Belarus,” he said. “These phenomenal women are leaders in the guitar and compositional world, and I couldn't be more honored to have them at WC.

“Weatherford gives its visitors a real look at Texas culture. From cowboys to culinary artists, Weatherford represents some the very best of Texas, and I am thrilled to be able to bring the very best of the guitar world to the place I have called home for more than two decades.”
